Pathfinders Trio is a modular ensemble creating modular music. Members McKinley Baker (clarinets), Hannah Markun (trumpets), and Lyndsey Dean (multiple woodwinds) comprise a mixed woodwind and brass trio founded in Greensboro, North Carolina. They use their unconventional instrumentation to step out of preconceived musical boundaries, crossing the sectional divide of woodwind and brass. Pathfinders Trio works to promote new compositions and arrangements for flexible and fixed ensembles, commissioning five new works in 2025. Outside of music, the trio loves to travel together and watch movies.

Commission with Ivory Out of Time - Instrumental Transit System - Six-movement work for doubling trio inspired by “the way we experience riding on trains (some will get on as others get off, others will stay for the full duration of the ride, we might even have to switch trains to get to where we want to go in the end).”
